Batch of 1982 (ELAN) funds the Kennedy Chemistry Lab

We are very happy to inform that we have reached our target of Rs 10lakhs towards funding the Samuel Kennedy Chemistry Lab at St Xavier's Shrirampur in memory of our late batchmate. We have around 68 plus contributors to the project.A truly combined effort.

In Memory of our classmate Samuel Kennedy who passed away on 3rd April 2023 our batch of 1982 contributed Rs 10lacs to Xavier's Shrirampur for the Chemistry lab to be named as "Samuel Kennedy Chemistry Lab"

Update So here's the story-

Our batch of 1982 was stunned with the untimely passing away of Kenny on 3rd April 2023. Kenny was a truly spirited person, keen to do something for society, infact the day he passed away, that very morning,Kenny in his role as President of his Rotary Chapter, had just dedicated a science Lab to a underprivileged school named Kilbil high school, in Vadarvadi,a slum almost in the heart of Pune

The whole batch was plunged into a terrible feeling of having lost a very vibrant, dynamic and loving person.

Just at this time St Xavier's Shrirampur was building 3 labs for their school, while the Jesuit Society, was funding the whole building, Fr Titus was short of Funds for setting up the 3 labs, Fr Anish,Principal Loyola, asked if our batch could take up one lab which could then be named after Kenny.

Our batch,Class of 82, readily agreed, even Kenny's family thought it would be a fabulous tribute to Kenny. Each batch member was asked to contribute just Rs10,000 & 4 or 5 batchmates, committed to fulfill the shortfall, if any.

The amount made sure everyone could pitch in & all did. The money was collected in Elan ( ex loyola students association account) and yesterday the chq was handed over to Fr Titus,in the presence of Fr Anish & our batch mates.

When the lab is complete, our batch plans to go on a picnic to Shrirampur to install the nameplate in Kenny's name.

This project taught us,just as a willing donor is needed,it is important to find a deserving recipient,St Xavier's Shrirampur was the perfect fit.

Thankyou once again, Fr Anish & Fr Titus, for helping us keep the memory of Kenny alive through this project.

Kenny's wife Roselyn had this to say " Kenny will surely be smiling from heaven". This is the perfect & everlasting tribute to his memory.
