SOXA Organizes Eye Camp for Students and Teachers
Sahibganj, November 9, 2023 - The Sahibganj Old Xaverians Association (SOXA) proudly orchestrated a comprehensive eye camp for the students and teachers of St. Xavier's School, Sahibganj. Headed by the esteemed Dr. Rahul Verma, an alumnus of the ICSE Batch of 2005 from St. Xavier's School, Sahibganj, as well as of Rural Medical College, Shirdi, Bareilly International University, and three Jesuit institutions, the event aimed to provide essential eye care services and foster awareness about ocular health within the local community.
Dr. Verma's dedication to the Indian Society of Cornea and Keratorefractive Surgeons, along with his acknowledged efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by the Rohilkhand Charitable Trust, reflects his unwavering commitment to community service.
Exhibiting a profound sense of altruism, Dr. Verma has generously donated blood on 10 separate occasions and has pledged to contribute his eyes posthumously. His passion for education is evident through his mentorship of MBBS students and his coordination of several impactful eye camps.
In addition to his clinical contributions, Dr. Verma has made substantial strides in the scientific community, publishing three research papers in renowned scientific journals. Currently, he specializes in the skillful execution of Phaco Surgeries, focusing specifically on advanced care for patients with cataracts.
The visit of Mr. Maheep Singh, Youth Representative of India in the World Union of Jesuit Alumni, and an alumnus of three Jesuit institutions, added an exceptional touch to the occasion, making it truly memorable.
Rev. Fr. Arul Doss SJ, the President of SOXA, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Maheep Singh for gracing the event, as well as to Dr. Rahul Verma and all the volunteers who contributed to its success. He emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting the overall well-being of the community and fostering a culture of proactive healthcare.
