8th annual Britto's O.B.A Xmas Dance
The 8th annual Britto's O.B.A Xmas Dance at ALVA MAR, Parra, with FOREFRONT led by Seby Pinto and VENTURES led by Malcolm Sequeira was a grand success. Everyone enjoyed themselves and even the Deputy Chief Minister, Adv. Francisco C.J.A. de Pinto e Souza agreed to shake a leg after a brief felicitation function by the Founder President Fr. Apollo Cardoz SJ in the presence of the current President BOB Cesar Cabral ...who also led the Managing Committee in organizing, presenting, Monitoring and accounting for the dance. Less than 24 hours later, most of the accounts are settled. The Treasurer, BOB Max Cordeiro [seen giving away a prize at the dance in the last photo] has done an excellent job of accounting and getting the accounts audited. BOB Elvidio D'Souza has been our Conscience Keeper and organized the gate-keeping for a nominal cost, while BOB Jude Fernandes has managed the hamper very transparently. A record 124 members attended the Dance along with their families and friends. Mr. Agnelo Remedios, BOB Jose L. D'Souza and BOB Roque Carvalho have been a great support along with many other BOBs who have helped in the spirit of T.E.A.M. ...for Together Everyone Achieves More!!
The Britto's O.B.A invests ALL the FUNDS raised at the annual Xmas Dance into STUDENT WELFARE through infrastructure and events at St. Britto High School, Mapusa-Goa, for the benefit of students from other schools, too. The first project was the improvement of the sloping and rocky school playground and provision of Spectator stands. We raised funds through membership fees and contribution by parents of students in 2006-07. Members volunteered technical services and supervision services FREE to reduce costs from the estimated Rs.32.00 lakhs to just Rs 15.00 lakhs ..... still a princely sum to raise in the first year of life as an association of less than one hundred alumni then. The amount of membership fees was recovered from part of the funds generated in the first 4 years and put into a Corpus Fund. From January 2011, the Corpus Fund and the Community Fund are two SEPARATE Accounts in two different Banks. ALL the proceeds of the Dance now go to Community Fund. Your contribution at the dance goes to this account.
